What industry are you in?

Rayne: Fashion

What do you do professionally?

Designer

What was your journey like to get to where you are in your career?

My journey has definitely been unconventional and I’ve kind of stumbled into every position I’ve held. I started off in tech and from there I went into interior design to finally land in fashion. Though they are all very different, each industry has taught me a lot of valuable lessons.

What was one of the most challenging lessons that you learned during your process?

Take nothing personal and ask for help when you need it. I am very much a do it yourself kind of person and I had to learn the importance of community. It can be a game changer, especially as an entrepreneur.

What was the most valuable lesson you learned during your process?

Try new things. I’ve jumped around industries and tried out new roles and it ultimately led me to what I do now and I genuinely feel like I was destined to do this.

What was your biggest obstacle?

Figuring out what it was I wanted to do. But with each new job it led me closer to figuring it out.

When did you realize you were going in the right direction, professionally?

When I landed in fashion, I didn’t know exactly where I would end up but it felt more like me then anything else I’d done previously.

What was a pivotal moment in your career that led you to where you are now?

Observing the passion in my peers. Seeing others chase their dreams and realize them can be the gas you need to realize your own.

How did you overcome doubt during your career journey/transitions?

I still deal with doubt, it’s a normal human emotion but my confidence in myself and my abilities always outweigh the bit of doubt that creeps in.

For those who may be experiencing imposter syndrome, what advice would you give that has helped you?

You’re here because you deserve to be here. It may be hard but you have to hold onto that.
