TaskRabbit Provides Essential, Safe Services and Helps Neighbors in Need Through New Volunteer Program During COVID-19 Crisis

As a mission-driven organization, the TaskRabbit team worked quickly at the outset of COVID-19 to determine how they could help out neighbors in need in the wake of this public health crisis. Realizing that they were in a unique position to help, since the existing TaskRabbit platform could be used to connect volunteers to those in need, they jumped into action to create the Tasks for Good program and volunteer service.

Tasks for Good connects vulnerable and at-risk individuals and organizations with local Taskers who are donating their time and skills to support their communities. These Taskers’ selfless efforts have helped thousands of people get the essential services they need and transition into the “new ‘norm.” The program is intended to support individuals impacted by COVID-19 and organizations (non-profits, government agencies, community-based organizations, local small businesses) who are experiencing financial hardship, and in need of volunteer support.

Taskers volunteering through Tasks for Good can pick up and drop off medications; deliver gloves, masks, and other personal protective equipment; deliver meals to students and staff at schools in need, small businesses, community organizations (like shelters); shop for groceries; and much more. All tasks are done in a contactless or virtual manner to ensure everyone is staying as safe as possible.

Tasks for Good launched in New York City on April 3, 2020, and since then, Tasker heroes have shopped for groceries for people who are immunocompromised, picked up and delivered medication to chemo patients in need, and helped elderly people with everyday errands. Now more than ever, the world is in need of kindness, compassion and support for one another, which is why TaskRabbit expanded the Tasks for Good initiative to thousands of cities across six countries in which it operates.
