Today’s Jopwell Select spotlight is on Darneka McCann, an Executive Assistant in Corporate Planning and Analysis at American Express. We asked Darneka a few questions about her new role and advice for the Select community.

What excites you about this new role?

I have previous experience in executive assistant and project management roles so I was excited I could continue on this path while learning new skills!

What excites you about working at American Express?

American Express is a reputable company! It is a Fortune 500 company that is excelling in Finance, along with the company's mission of diversity inclusion in the workplace.

How did Jopwell help you with your job search?

Jopwell helped me to find roles closer to my experience to apply for. I was able to have a representative to promote me at companies I would like to work for.

What advice do you have for professionals looking for a new job?

I would say network! I moved to New York City recently and my sister aided me in attending events and talking to recruiters face to face so that I could form a relationship. It ultimately led me to Jopwell and scoring a new job!

How do you de-stress after a long day at work?

Music! It is my life! There is nothing like plugging in my headphones and just zoning out to my favorite songs.
