Not only is it important to see women of color in high places, but it’s also important to celebrate them. It takes a lot of boldness and resiliency to take charge in an industry that is not only white-dominated but one that is male-dominated.
In 2021, we are still faced with the overt reality that although women make up about 51% of the US population, in over 200 surveyed companies across the country, they only make up 23% of leadership roles. Even with this increase over the past few years, according to a study led by LEAN IN, they determined that women are 21% less likely to be promoted to manager, and Black women are 40% less like than men to be promoted to manager.
Women continue to make significant and impactful changes within organizations and various industries, and it’s important to recognize that. Certainly, the potential for systemic change to happen is there, so let’s continue to make the appropriate noise. Here are 6 women that are leading the charge in their industries.
